Our Mission
Due to the unprecedented COVID-19 global pandemic, the need for humanitarian care has increased exponentially. This Project will provide Hygiene and Food Care Kits that consist of hygiene, disinfectant supplies, rice, beans and canned foods for refugee and impoverished families in Turkey. Each Kit costs $75 USD and will be sufficient for at least one month's supply for a family of 4-6 people.
The Background
Turkey has recorded the most COVID-19 cases so far within our list – more than 34,000 confirmed cases and 725 deaths and counting. Turkey has received the most refugees in the world with approximately 3.7 million people. Syrians comprise the vast majority, but other refugees include Iraqis, Iranians, Afghanis and Yemenis all of whom we’ve seen in our mobile medical clinics over the years.
Even before the C19 pandemic, many refugees lost their jobs due to the growing economic crisis in Turkey. Since the beginning of the year, Turkey stopped providing health insurance for refugees. Now with the C19 restrictions, almost all of the refugees have lost their jobs and they’re now facing a crisis where families can’t pay their rent, their bills and are dangerously short on food.
WCF has deployed medical teams to Turkey since 2013 and we are working with a local partner that ministers all throughout Turkey.
