SEEING FIRST HAND WCF’S IMPACT
I recently had the opportunity to travel to Jordan as part of my first trip with WCF to meet some of the beneficiaries of our COVID Food/Hygiene relief and medical ministry projects. I only started working with WCF in June, so I did not know quite what to expect. Not only was this my first trip with WCF, but this was also my first trip to the Middle East. A place I had seen and heard so much about throughout my life.
It was very important for me as part of the WCF Team to see first hand the needs, as well as the impact WCF is having throughout Jordan. Through different humanitarian organizations in Jordan, WCF is able to help 25,000 people all throughout the country. WCF supports 4 medical/dental clinics that are serving the refugees and the poorest of the poor in Jordan.
Around 2 million refugees are in Jordan and they come from all over the surrounding region, mostly fleeing from war. They come from Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan and most recently Afghanistan. The stories and circumstances that brought them to Jordan are heartbreaking. As part of my week-long trip, I got to hear those stories. I had the pleasure of meeting with people in a variety of different places throughout Jordan. In homes, English classes and in medical clinics. All the people that I met shared how grateful they were for WCF and their partners for supplying them with food, education for their children, and medical care.
It truly was the most rewarding trip of my life. It’s been wonderful to see so many people get the help that was denied to them for most of their lives. Whether that help was seeing a doctor for the first time, getting clean water, a hot meal or even learning to read. On this trip, I heard many gripping stories of suffering that will stay with me forever, but when I see first hand the work that WCF and it’s partners are doing it keeps me going. It’s very rewarding to see people being helped who have lost everything.
Only through our donor’s generous help can we continue to help those in need. Through this trip, I have seen the unbelievable impact donors can have, not only for individuals and families, but for the world!
